So the big school is back in session and I've been quite busy. I'm teaching the Organic chemistry first semester for majors. Luckily this is just and adaptation of the chemistry for non-majors class I've taught probably 5 semseter worth of classes. Making quizzes for the semester was a bit of a chore, but I got it done before classes started. In addition, I am going to do some lecturing about the lab exercises. It should be interesting.
On the other side of the coin, I haven't made near enough progress on writing my Ph.D. dissertation. I have been doing quite a bit of reading, going through old data, and writing for some chapters. The goal is to have it all written and in fairly polished form by the beginning of December. Although this is a few months away, I still have research goals to accomplish. Concentrating will be key.
I was recently informed that my family will once again be going to the Outer Banks of North Carolina in June 2008. I surely hope to join them for some time. Last year I only managed 3 days out there, two years before I only did 5. So I'm hoping to at least put in a week. I suppose it will depend on my employment at the time. I sure am looking for some type of break between this Ph.D. experience and the next phase in my career.
MOre posts will come as I have the spare time.... Until then.
